Today, a young man walks into Kamakura Neko Club and tells a story about a strange shadow he saw in the water when attending a beachside festival during his childhood.
Shio Matsuri, or the Tide Festival, is a traditional Shinto festival and ceremony held on January 11th, following the first ten days of the New Year. It is performed by local fisherman, who pray for good catch in the coming year. The ritual was previously officiated by priests at Gosho Shrine when it began some time in the Meiji era, but has since been officiated by priests from several other shrines in Kamakura.
