The chapter opens with a view of a couple Ospreys landing at an underground facility. Our view enters the facility, and a voice begins to echo throughout. A voice that the humans are unable to hear. Couverture stands, able to hear the pain of whatever being is crying out. Sean asks Okuda about the prosthetic eyes he had put in. Okuda speaks strangely. "When perceived through metal, the world shows a different face" and "I can hear the conversation of the metal". It's like he's reached an entirely new level of understanding.
We see ammo being loaded and a conversation between some workers. The weaponry... is connected to something. The silhouette of the being looks human.
Victoria arrives in the viewing room with her group of bodyguards. She sees Okuda standing at the end of the room, looking into the testing area. Sean quickly moves to greet Victoria, but she questions why he's present for a "basic experiment".
The intercom calls for all personnel to leave the testing area, for the experiment is about to begin. Victoria continues talking with Sean. Sean is present at the experiment to watch over Okuda. He says that it's because of people like Victoria, presumably keen on manipulating him and making use of his unique skills. During the conversation Victoria mentions her findings about Okuda's past, completely different from the untrue accounts we were told in earlier chapters. Okuda not only has no genetic connection to his parents, but he retains traces of genetic manipulation.
The being is shown again, jingling as it moves. It has a human hand, yet scales that cover its body. The massive weaponry is shown accompanying it. Two of the beings are revealed, moving into the testing area. They're not only covered in jingling, metallic scales, but fused with oversized machinery and weapons. One groans as it crawls forward, its voice straining until is collapses to the ground and lays motionless.
There were apparently six of them, but only two of them entered the testing area and now only one remains standing. A-1, the Scaly-foot H.A. that previously lived at Okuda's residence.
A-1 rises, continuing to hobble forward. He repeatedly cries out in pain, with the only noise coming out of his mouth being dissonant groaning. The experiment was created to explore the possibility of creating a living helicopter. The humans look down from the viewing area as A-1 continues to move. He leans back and holds up the weaponry attached to him. The gatling gun attached to his left arm whirrs on and begins to fire as A-1 cries out toward Okuda.
The sound effect work in this scene was probably the most intensive out of any other chapter we've done for this series. The redraws weren't exactly challenging or anything, but it was interesting for sure.
A-1 fires the weapon across the flooring, up and across the seating, and right over the thick glass of the viewing area. Okuda stares hollowly as A-1 continues to scream. Jasmine appears in his head as the firing slows and the bullets stop entirely, shells clinking onto the ground. His body leans backward because of the lopsided weight of the weapons.
Armed guards approach the H.A. as well as Sean and Victoria. To their surprise, the weapon on A-1's right arm fires, exploding against the ceiling of the facility. At the same time, Couverture notices the presence of intruders.
Rubble falls from the ceiling right on top of those around the creature. Sean holds himself over Victoria to protect her, and calls out. He stands and turns to realize that the guards haven't been crushed, but shot. In an instant, Red and Ran appear before him, Red holding an unconscious Victoria. Ran looks up to the viewing area where Okuda and Couverture stand, and Couverture looks back.
The scene cuts to a city. The Journalist and Miriam sit at a table somewhere. Miriam comments that the Journalist must be capable to have his eye on Okuda. He holds up a smartphone, which has a picture of the Wildebeest H.A. on the screen. "Is this 'Mrs. Big'?", he asks. Miriam corrects him, stating that Mrs. Big is a pig that serves as the host for genetically modified organisms, that being the H.A.
She then states that Okuda is "the world's first human born from a pig".
