Chapter 17: "Chocolate"

This is a pretty dialogue-heavy chapter that gives us a bit of time to rest after all of the action that happened in the previous chapter. So much happens in most of these chapters that it'd be practically impossible to go over everything that happens, but I'll try to mention all the important stuff.
The chapter opens with a series of flashbacks regarding Okuda, involving the terrorist attack his family was victim to and Dr. Victoria, showing us that Victoria and Okuda had previously had an intimate relationship which broke down sometime in the past.
Sean and his father, the Chairman of Sanmonto, are shown riding on horseback, having a conversation over a few very interesting things. They touch on the Wildebeest H.A. that had attacked Okuda's residence. Sean mentions that the group who had kidnapped the H.A. were surely perplexed when they analyzed the DNA of the animal, because H.A. don't actually contain any human genes. The process of creating H.A. involves taking an organism that would've grown into a normal animal and tweaking it in a way that causes it to grow into a form that appears more "human". They mention as well that the Dolphins, being a creation of Victoria with the help of Okuda, weren't created with the same method that Okuda uses by himself. The way they speak about the Dolphins make me believe that Victoria's process includes actual humans somehow.
Later in their conversation, the Chairman mentions that he had Okuda investigated. In reality, everything rumored to have happened in Okuda's past was a lie. Everything involving Okuda's family and his little sister had all been false, and a story created by Okuda's delusions. The dolphins are also mentioned as still being MIA.
The scene cuts to a miscellaneous building in the city, where the Journalist is watching footage that was stolen from security cameras at Okuda's residence...
In the meantime, Couverture is making a shoe pattern that fits on her unique feet.
